Dear new students,

My warmest welcome and congratulations to all of you for embarking on your new journey at CUHK!

You have overcome remarkable challenges to be here today, and I commend your perseverance.  CUHK is a place where you will study, live, and grow alongside classmates, peers, teachers and mentors from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Our university motto, "Through learning and temperance to virtue", encapsulates the very essence of the education you will receive here and the expectations we have for you. At CUHK, we are steadfastly committed to the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical behaviour, and personal conduct. The Honour Code and Code of Conduct for Students serve as a set of guiding principles for all students of our university community. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with these codes and uphold the principles of honesty, respect, fairness, and accountability throughout your time with us. Doing so will not only foster your personal growth but also contribute to a positive and inclusive environment for all.

As CUHK students, you have the privilege of accessing abundant resources and opportunities for academic and extracurricular development. I encourage you to be attentive to the needs and development of our society and our country, and to actively engage in service-learning, volunteer work, and community outreach programs. Your dedication to serving others will enrich your personal development and inspire those around you to help build a better future together.

This orientation website provides essential information to help you navigate the transition into life at CUHK.  I encourage you to explore the resources available and stay connected with your Faculty, College, and the wider university community.  Be curious, be creative, and you will find boundless opportunities to pursue your academic and personal aspirations.

I wish you all the best of health and success in the years ahead. I look forward to seeing you on campus.
